In March 2002, Peter Douglass retired and the company ‘Peter Douglass Platforms’ was sold to the current owners, Phil Watson and Rick Wood.

Phil had been with Peter Douglass since 1975, initially employed by PDP, and later on a freelance basis, and Rick originally joined the company in 1980 as apprentice to Phil. Rick completed his apprenticeship in 1984 and was then employed by the company until he and Phil bought it in 2002.

has expanded greatly under Phil and Rick’s ownership and in 2005 the business moved from the Arden Hall premises to a much larger yard at Hollingworth Road, Bredbury and the firm still operates from there today. With the move to larger premises self-drive Hiab hire was added to the existing hire fleet of truck and van-mounted access platforms & cherry pickers. The hire fleet continues to expand to fulfil customers’ requirements.

Peter Douglass Platforms (PDP) has been in the plant hire business for over 30 years, hiring out cherrypickers and other plant to a variety of customers including local authorities, airports and the construction industry in the North West of England and across the United Kingdom.
