Calon was founded in 1997 as a technology consultancy firm, developing open control products for others and providing specialist controls consultancy and troubleshooting services.
By 2001, Calon started to develop its own product range and it was in this year that Calon saw its first involvement in lighting controls, with the roll out of a system of a remotely-managed lighting control system to over 600 filling stations and convenience stores in the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe, believed to be a first for an IP-based managed lighting solution.
Since 2010, all new products have been based on an advanced 32-bit ARM platform, providing greater performance and flexibility and allowing Calon to offer a flexible range of communications options including LonWorks, ModBus, BACnet, DALI and Web Services.
In 2012, the company moved to its current location in Manor Park, Runcorn, conveniently located for the M56, M6 and M62 motorways and close to the cities of Liverpool, Manchester and Chester.
