Portland Eye Care Ltd was founded by John and Maureen Beddows and first opened it's doors in 1983, going on to open a further 8 practices in the Staffordshire and West Midlands region.

We are a family run business providing professional and friendly eye care for both private and NHS patients.

The eyes are the most important sensory organ that we have yet we take them for granted and assume that there is nothing wrong with them as long as we can see. This is often not the case; many eye diseases don’t affect the vision until the latter stages when it can be too late or more difficult to treat. We recommend that all children and people aged over 70 have an eye test every year – or more often if recommended by your optometrist. A regular eye test does a lot more than check whether your eyesight needs correcting. It’s also a vital health check that can pick up early signs of eye conditions such as glaucoma, as well as detecting underlying general health problems, including diabetes and high blood pressure.
