PS We are not married and no, Carol is not Kenn’s mother! And the Fairy Godmother is Janie (who we really call Cinderella because we make her do all the work!)

Combining their wealth of experience in teaching and theatre, their innovative performances and workshops actively encourage participation; using role play, drama, movement, puppets, props, music and improvisation to fire children’s imaginations. Openbox liaises closely with teachers and event organisers to tailor material to specific needs and learning objectives. Company members are fully insured and CRB checked.

Carol has been a successful teacher for many years. She has taught reception through to year 6. Her love of music and drama combined with her extensive knowledge of the National Curriculum has proved a winning formula; effectively motivating children to learn through drama, role play and storytelling. The Openbox Theatre Company is a natural extension to her role as teacher; a creative partnership which definitely puts the fun back into learning!

Kenn’s career in theatre has spanned more than 20 years. He has toured the UK in productions of Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, A Slice of Saturday Night, Elvis the Musical, Babes in the Wood, to name but a few! For 12 years Kenn worked in the stage management teams on some of the West End’s top shows including Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia, Aspects of Love, Mack and Mabel, Whistle Down the Wind and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. His Equity name is Glen Harper but the children all call him Kenn!

Workshops are best suited to class sizes of no more than 35 at a time. We are happy to run two different curriculum topics in a day (with a maximum of 4 workshops in total).

All workshops listed are available throughout the academic year. From time to time, we ‘rest’ a workshop and remove it from our Programme. Please get in touch if you have an interest in a topic we have run in the past or would like to talk about something new which is not currently covered in our Programme as we are always happy to talk to you about what might be possible!
