ABOUT UNIVERSAL CARPENTRY & BUILDING LIMITED

The company was established by the present owner Simon Whitpen, starting as an apprentice cabinet maker for a local family firm whilst studying at technical college and gaining City & Guild qualifications.

Progressing on to work for various fine furniture makers and joinery firms in the workshop and on site. The most enjoyable and varied work was with one of the world’s leading fine furniture makers based in Norwich with showrooms worldwide. This work including fine furniture making, machining, building jigs, veneering, marquetry and inlays in the workshop.

Unexpectedly being made redundant created an opportunity for Simon to use his skills on a self-employed basis, in the commercial building trade, working for various building groups and shop fitting firms around the country. The next step was to bring over ten years experience together with all the acquired skills, knowledge and contacts to establish Universal Carpentry & Joinery Ltd in March 2007, after much success in building a varied customer base domestically and commercially as well as networking when attanding events within the construction industry Simon Changed the name to Universal Carpentry & Building Ltd due to the expansion of the company and also the scope of works carried out.

Universal Carpentry & Building Ltd specialise in many fields within the construction industry, our main business activities being commercial carpentry contracts along with our specialities listed below. UCB’s customer base varies from government departments, professional consultants, commercial companies and private residential clients.

A key part in ensuring all our clients are happy is UCB’s attention to detail, continual communication through out a well managed project, therefore resulting in repeat business.

We are continuously looking to expand, working with new partners and clients on exciting new projects in the UK and abroad.
