I have lectured to businesses through University based schemes at both Manchester and Salford Universities on business courses for start-up companies and entrepreneurial individuals. Having had the great opportunity to get in at the start of the company’s life you can help establish if the model has a chance of survival. It also allows you to advise on where to focus first and what the cost expectations are liable to be.
I often start with a skills appraisal of each of the individuals and an honest self-assessment with the help of some of my specialist sales tools, appraisal documents and questionnaires. This allows us to set a strategy using the likes of Orbit and SPP docs.
Using tuition in Prospecting for New Business, Structured Sales Skills, Major Account Development, Spin Selling, Consultative Selling and Challenger Sales methodology enable me to identify and increase everyone’s skill levels for growth.
I have carried out Interim Sales Management and Non-Executive Sales Director roles and getting people to understand their role in the Company and the responsibility that goes with the knowledge they have learned is very satisfying. Increase the sales, keep the gross profit level high and control costs linked with getting the senior people to manage and lead better gives the Company growth and a longevity that keeps the confidence levels high in a tough and hostile market.
