Peter Gerber first established his optician practice nearly 25 years ago with the aim to be the leading local provider of professional eye care and quality eyewear.
Originally located in Ipswich town centre, the practice moved to it’s current premises in September 1999. Situated on Norwich Road the relocation proved to offer more convenience and accessibility for both our patients in Ipswich and those who travel from other nearby towns and villages in Suffolk, particularly with the addition of an ample onsite car par park! The building itself provides a welcoming atmosphere that only a house practice can offer.

Peter Gerber Eyecare Opticians
Our highly regarded, fully qualified optometrists carry out thorough eye examinations and sight tests using up to the minute eye care facilities. With many combined years of experience in their field, they can also help with any eyecare problems you may be concerned about, and will advise about the appropriate monitoring, treatment options or referrals that may be necessary as a result of your tests.
If you need to improve your vision, our opticians can advise you about the choices of both contact lenses and glasses available and help you choose the frames and lenses to suit you and your lifestyle. Our eyewear studio displays an extensive range of frames from some of the best international eyewear brands available and we also offer complementary style consultations with our frame stylist.
with a follow-up consultation. You will be fully trained in the insertion and removal of lenses and can take some way with you to see how you get on. The follow up consultation is normally arranged one week later so we can check that everything is okay or discuss any problems or concerns you may have. This process is repeated until both the optician and patient are satisfied that the most appropriate contact lens has been selected – you will not be charged for any lenses used in this process and if you decide that contact lenses aren’t for you, you will not be obliged to sign up to any monthly plans. It is important to have an up to date prescription and we are unable to dispense contact lenses without a prescription taken within the last 2 years.
Eyecare opticians provide a full aftercare service for our contact lens wearers. It is vitally important that you have a contact lens check-up every 12 months to ensure that the prescription and fit are still correct as well as to check the health of your eyes. If you currently purchase your contact lenses from one of the many contact lens online retailers, it is important that you still have a regular contact lens check.
