• I have 11 years experience holding senior tax roles at BP, most recently as Head of Tax, Europe, and Global Tax Director of BP’s Refining and Marketing Segment. During this time I had responsibility for the tax planning and compliance needs of the businesses and worked as an integral part of the senior management teams. It is this close collaborative approach that I will bring to working with my clients at Ashton Allsop.
• I started my career working in a local Surrey based firm of chartered accountants where I provided accounting and tax services to a diverse range of smaller owner managed businesses. I continued my tax technical training at Price Waterhouse Coopers before joining BP, where I gained experience of a wide range of business and tax issues in the UK and overseas, including living and working for 4 years in the US.
• I am a management accountant with experience of both large, complex organisations and start-up and early-revenue businesses. I am passionate about using data to facilitate evidence-based decision-making.
• In my last corporate role I was a Director in the Corporate Finance function at a Big Four firm. I now advise a range of organisations on business plans for fundraising, budget setting, efficiency improvement and performance monitoring (often using cloud accounting software).
• My sector experience is broad and encompasses a craft brewery, an IT software development company, a special needs Housing Association, a complex property company, various large healthcare providers and a niche graphic design business.

Whatever services you choose, we believe in ensuring that we have an understanding of your business at the outset.
Good communication is essential. As a start, we would expect to meet with you at least twice very early in our relationship, once before we are appointed and, if you decide to work with us, once afterwards. Both these meetings are free of charge and part of our investment in you and your business.
At our first meeting we will seek to understand your needs and gather sufficient information to enable us to provide you with a realistic fee quote for our services.
If you decide to appoint us, we will arrange a second meeting. The purpose of this meeting will be to help us to understand the history of your business, your goals and aspirations and key challenges in more detail. During this meeting we will share how to get the most from our simple Business Risk Management Tool in order to build a picture of your key risks and opportunities and the actions you are taking to manage them. We will also use this meeting to ensure that the content of your Service Plan is fully agreed and that there are no misunderstandings in respect of the Price Plan.
