Disappointed with the limited number of decent, good craft beers available near our homes in Enfield, we set out in Autumn 2014 with the belief we could provide home grown, flavoursome beers to the local communities of Hertfordshire and North London – and in doing so step out onto new and exciting career paths.
Some 10 months on and a lot of hard work, we are starting to brew the kind of beer we think people will like. There’s nothing off-the-wall about our recipes; just simple, honest, great tasting beers that result in good things being said about them. To date our focus on serving our local community seems to be working well; our beers are being met with enthusiasm and we're planning to launch a range of keg and bottled beers soon.
With the New River flowing past our backyard providing our day-to-day inspiration (our beer names are all themed around it) we're keen to protect our environment and limit our carbon footprint. We use locally sourced supplies wherever possible and our brewer’s water is drawn from the same sources that feed the New River in Hertfordshire. We also recycle our spent grain to feed local farm animals.
In the short time that we’ve been in business we like to think we've brought something new to the table. Our confidence is growing by the day and hopefully our brewery will become a business that Hertfordshire can be rightly proud of

New River Brewery was born out of a desire to enable drinkers to experience locally brewed, fresh and flavoursome craft beers. We opened in summer 2015 on the banks of the New River in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire and have since been brewing a steady stream of delicious beer.
The New River which flows into London from its source near Ware in Hertfordshire provides the day-to-day inspiration for our business. Not only is it a wonderful feat of engineering serving Londoners with fresh drinking water since 1613, but it’s 20 miles of banks are teeming with wildlife, natural beauty and some excellent pubs!
