ABOUT THE PERIOD IRONMONGER LIMITED

Here at The Period Ironmonger, our aim is to provide Quality Door, Window and Cabinet Furniture for Period Properties at competitive prices. We also sell furniture for the Art Deco period as well as lovely hand made Glass door knobs that sit beautifully across all periods and contemporary homes.

We are Richard & Jayne Elsby and we live in the North Shropshire countryside where we run our small family web based business.

As Period Door & Window Hardware Specialists, we are extremely passionate about what we do, we love the products we sell and we really enjoy working with people to help ensure their renovations, or new builds are brought to life with beautiful door, window and cabinet furniture.

The Period Ironmonger started its journey in 2002. The previous owners, Tom and Kotti Brewin, had found it very difficult to source high quality, Period Ironmongery whilst renovating their own Victorian home. So the quest began, to get some of the finest reproduction architectural ironmongery in one place, with accurate period dating and accompanying information, was their goal.

The business grew steadily over the years and then finally with the introduction of an online shop The Period Ironmonger has been helping individuals, designers, architects and contractors all over the UK, Europe and across the world.

We do like to champion British made products and many of the products on our website are made right here in the UK. Some are small independent Artisans and others are large manufacturers that have been making ironmongery for many, many years. But we realise this isn’t always possible, so where we do sell products that have come from overseas we work with the very best suppliers and manufacturers who use the best raw materials in their products. This includes really high quality brass and also real Ebony from the great manufacturers in India, lovely ebonised hardwood and oak from South Africa and truly delightful crystal from Europe.

The Period Ironmonger has been involved in numerous prestigious projects over the years, which include the Glasgow Riverside Museum, various listed properties, international retail outlets, top hotels and also works closely with the National Trust.

More recently as well as being involved in some large-scale period renovations, we have supplied door furniture for ‘Spectre’, the James Bond movie and also provided a range of ‘Butlers Bells’ for the Downton Abbey US costume tour.

We are committed to providing the very best service to our customers that we can. We are happy to help you through the whole process, from choices in design and finish through to aftersales care and support whilst your furniture is being fitted and beyond.

We try to make sure that our pricing is fair and competitive, so that great quality products are accessible to many, not just a few. Our online prices already include great discounts, but understand that sometimes you are taking on a large renovation project, so please call us to talk about Large Project Discounts, we will always do our best to help.

If you’re overseas we can certainly help. We regularly ship all over the world for many of our suppliers and UK manufacturers. We have access to very competitive shipping rates. For more information or

Our website, like many others, is a labour of love. It showcases some of the best selling products we offer, but it would be impossible to include everything we can supply as we deal with so many producers and suppliers. So, if you can’t seem to find what you are looking for please just give us a call on

At The Period Ironmonger we supply high quality traditional door furniture, window furniture, cabinet furniture and home accessories.

We specialise in period door furniture and have a comprehensive range of quality period door handles and period door knobs which include reproduction Georgian and Victorian door knobs, door handles, as well as Edwardian and Arts and Crafts style period door and window furniture.

Our brass door knobs and beehive door knobs are among our most popular products, but we also have a wide range of other styles to choose from. Our finishes include real bronze door knobs & handles, polished nickel door knobs and more.
