Local Tennis Leagues Ltd was founded and is run by Sally Kinnes and Nigel Billen. Both Nigel and Sally have a background in journalism and Nigel was editor of ACE Tennis Magazine for nearly five years.
The league concept is approved by and affiliated to the LTA, the governing body, and recognised by the Tennis Foundation, a charity set up by the LTA to promote grass-roots tennis. Local Tennis Leagues is registered as a Place to Play with the LTA and entered into a four year partnership agreement with the LTA in 2015.
Our Philosophy
We have found that although there are plenty of leagues and ladders in clubs if you seek them out, there is not always a regular league for players who play on one set or a few neighbouring sets of local public courts. Having one, we have discovered, helps build a sense of community, puts local players in touch with each other, and gives people a way of seeing themselves improve.

is a membership scheme for players and fans of British Tennis, provided by the LTA, the governing body for tennis in the UK.
But Local Tennis Leagues has been recognised as a "nomadic" club - we think it sounds quite exotic - which means anyone who plays in one of our rounds is entitled to Lite Membership or the discouted rate of £20 for Team Membership.
We offer membership on the basis that you play in at least one round of a league in the last 12 months (players who played in previous rounds may be required to join and play in a new round.) If you cease to be an active player with us check on the LTA site for your options for keeping your BTM membership active. Only active players in a Local Tennis League will be eligible for the section of the Wimbledon ballot run by Local Tennis Leagues.
Getting Wimbledon tickets is really hard... But each year, Local Tennis Leagues is allocated a number of tickets for our players. All our players who 'opt in' will be included in our ballot with an option to buy them! See

The Local Tennis Leagues ballot will be held in early Spring 2018 and the date of the ballot will be posted here in due course.
To be included, you need to have British Tennis Membership, to have that membership associated with Local Tennis Leagues and to be an active player in one of our leagues.
Any active player with Local Tennis Leagues is entitled to the free British Tennis Lite Membership, or the premium Team Membership at a 30% discount (if you haven't already done so, you can make the application
Is my British Tennis Membership Associated with Local Tennis Leagues?
Local Tennis Leagues should be listed under 'Your Venues'. If it isn't, follow this
The LTA has asked us to de-associate BTMs who are not active in the leagues. You are of course very welcome to join a round in the future and we will help you to re-associate your membership. We will be de-associating non-active players in the weeks running up to the ballot.
This year, to prevent players having to opt-in twice to the ballot, we are not offering players this service. Tickets will be randomly allocated.
I have more questions! Who can help me?
We are a very small team at Local Tennis Leagues and most detailed questions about BTM and the Wimbledon Ballot are best answered by the LTA. Check their
