Our new manufacturing centre has enabled us to create cell-based production lines based on engineering best practice and lean manufacturing principles, producing over 4000 caliper units per year and increasing due to customer recommendations and the need for quality re-engineered products at a fraction of the cost of O.E.
Our philosophy is to reduce customer’s whole life costs of operation through the design and supply of 'fit-for-purpose' parts which provide extended life and warranty performance improvement.
WHO WE ARE
C.B.T was formed in 2006 by two directors who have extensive experience in the manufacturing and problem solving of brake calipers. They wanted to produce their own range of products offering quality and customer focus and started to manufacture under their own control quality commercial vehicle brake calipers to the truck & trailer sector.
We at C.B.T believe we can change people’s perception of reman or recon procedures associated with aftermarket products.
Our focus has been to first identify problems affecting HGV and PSV components. We achieve this by collecting and using a wide range of data to determine the root cause and potential root cause of component failure. Having identified failure modes, we find and implement solutions to those problems and deliver products with engineering improvements offering longevity and performance.
We have a specialised development room where O.E spec parts are tested under strict control methods and if signed off, used in production.
On top of heavy investment in core, development, improved machinery and investing in local apprenticeship training over the last 12 months since moving from our previous home for 5 years in Preston, we have built the foundations to further develop new products and now have the capabilities to increase caliper production to beyond 4500 units per year within the next 6-8 months generating further interest from HGV and PSV national fleet organisations.
We believe due to the complexity of safety critical braking products, they should be manufactured in a clean, organised and controlled environment based on the following:
• Fully trained technicians working to controlled competence regulations from unit strip down and preparations, to production, testing and sign off.
• We are covered by £10 million product liability
All of these factors ensure a fully reproductive process. This improves on waste reduction and downtime, and gives us immediate alert to out of spec non-conformance. These methods also give us real-time monitoring of critical control points and makes sure the product is right first time. Putting these practices into place enables us to offer cost reduction over all our competitors.

C.B.T understands the need for a responsive service, which is why we make sure that 80% of the product group, is available off the shelf from stock.
We can however in some cases offer impressed stock to eradicate any V.O.R situations. Alternatively for uncommon product types, we can assess your old unit and determine if we can re-engineer within the same day.
