ABOUT THE FORGE ENTERTAINMENT LIMITED

The Forge was set up by George Faber in 2014. Previously, George ran Company Pictures, which he co-founded in 1998 with Charlie Pattinson. During his 12 years there, the company grew into one of the UK’s largest, most successful and highly regarded UK drama indies, winning Golden Globes, EMMYs, BAFTAs and RTS Awards for its wide-ranging productions including Shameless, Skins, Elizabeth I, Generation Kill, The Shadow Line, The Devil’s Whore, The Village, Wild At Heart, The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, A Room for Romeo Brass and Morvern Callar. Prior to his time at Company Pictures, George was Head of Single Drama for the BBC.

Before joining The Forge, George was an executive producer at the BBC, where he developed a raft of projects, including the 2016 adaptation of War and Peace for BBC1. He produced Sarah Phelps’ BAFTA and EMMY winning adaptation of Great Expectations, Sandy Welch’s adaptation of Emma, two series of Silent Witness, and EastEnders. George executive produced The Forge’s inaugural production, National Treasure for Channel 4, written by award-winning writer Jack Thorne; also for Channel 4 George executive produced Ackley Bridge, which has recently been commissioned for a second series, to air in 2018. Currently he is executive producing Kiri, also by Jack Thorne and for Channel 4, as well as working across many of the company’s developments.

Mark joined The Forge from Company Pictures where he combined the roles of Head of Business Affairs and Producer. During his time there, he produced Uncle Adolf, Wallis & Edward, both for ITV, and Einstein & Eddington and Women in Love for the BBC. Most recently he produced the adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s novels Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies for the BBC. Mark is currently working on The Last Post, a Peter Moffat series for the BBC, produced in collaboration with Bonafide Films.

Kate joined the Forge from Company Pictures where she was an Executive Producer. Her current slate includes The Miniaturist, The Spinning Heart and The Three and she will continue to specialise in sourcing and developing projects primarily but not exclusively from books. Previous notable successes include finding Slumdog Millionaire and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen as unpublished manuscripts as part of ten years in the film industry for Film 4, UKFC, Free Range Films, Kudos Pictures, Seesaw and Aardman. Prior to this she was an award winning Theatre Director working at the RSC, The Young Vic and the National Theatre in Poland. Kate is freelance and also has her own company Feet Films Ltd which currently has four feature films in development.

Anna joined The Forge development team in 2014 and script edits and manages the diverse range of projects on the development slate, as well as identifying new ideas and writing talent for the company. Anna joined The Forge from Company Pictures, where her credits included The Village, Moonfleet, Truckers and Wolf Hall. She has worked as a development consultant in film finance, and script edited the work of a number of leading writers including Jimmy McGovern, Allan Cubitt, Michael Frayn, Ashley Pharoah, Peter Flannery, William Ivory, Jim Cartwright and Peter Straughan. Recently, Anna worked as development producer on The Forge’s production, ‘Ackley Bridge’ for Channel 4.

Annelise joined The Forge in 2014, managing its initial set up through to its current structure. Prior to joining The Forge, Annelise was Executive and Communications Manager at North One Television, one of the UK’s largest independent media companies, supporting the CEO and responsible for all aspects of press, publicity and marketing for the business. She also previously worked for all3media international in their Press and Marketing team. Annelise is responsible for the Company Management of The Forge, overseeing its business and production operations.

Alex joined The Forge in 2015 after graduating from Warwick University where he studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics. Alex is development assistant at The Forge, and works across the company's production commissions and development slate.

Isabelle joined The Forge in 2017 after working freelance for Initial, an Endemol Shine company. After graduating from Cambridge University she interned with Studio Lambert, Revolution Films and The Ink Factory. In her role as office assistant Isabelle looks after office management and provides administrative support to The Forge team, as well as doing reading and research.

Carmen joined The Forge in December 2017 as George Faber’s Personal Assistant. Prior to this, she was an Office Runner at Company Pictures and Lime Pictures. She graduated from The University of Sheffield in 2015.

The Forge is a UK-based independent drama production company, established in 2014 by George Faber. Its aim is to develop and produce original and innovative television drama, working in collaboration with the UK’s leading and emerging creative talent.
