Planning & Design Practice Ltd is a team of Town Planning Consultants, Architects and Urban Designers. We are based in Derbyshire but operate across the country including London. We offer a comprehensive range of services, specialising in Town Planning, Architecture, Urban Design, Heritage and Conservation and can provide expert advice on a range of planning issues encompassing small scale development through to large schemes.

A chartered town planning consultant and building designer, Jonathan has developed the company; set out its core values and delivered many hundreds of projects since the company was founded in 2002. Having built an excellent team Planning Design enjoys a good reputation for the quality of its work and for the approach of its staff. Jonathan’s extensive experience of planning and the building industry gives him the expertise and clarity of vision to design and develop appropriate and exciting proposals across all sectors.
Jon is a Chartered Town Planner with a specialist interest in Historic Building Conservation and Urban Design. He joined the company in 2004 after gaining a First in Environmental Design and Conservation at Oxford Brookes University. He has since carried out further training in Urban Design at Birmingham City University, and completed the RIBA Conservation Course. He became a Director at Planning Design in 2011, and has since helped to grow the company. He has project led a wide variety of planning applications, Listed Building applications and appeals, and prepared a number of heritage assessments, context appraisals and masterplans. He also has experience of development plan preparation, including helping to deliver a Neighborhood Plan in his home town –the first to pass Inspector examination in the County. Jon is a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and Associate member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation.
Michael joined Planning Design Practice in 2015 and provides focused advice to a diverse range of clients across all sectors, including strategic land developers, house builders, landed estates and private individuals. Michael has worked on a range of projects including large scale residential development, specialist holiday accommodation, commercial expansions, as well as mixed use brownfield regeneration schemes. Michael works across South Yorkshire and Derbyshire, regularly providing development advice, site appraisals and the submission of planning applications. Michael holds an MPLAN and a BA (hons) from The University of Sheffield and spends his spare time fell running and mountain biking.
