With the environment and economic climate facing so many challenges, Andrew Read and Daniel Upton decided to do something about it and established Sustainable Wood Energy. The intent was to promote and where possible install biomass boilers into commercial premises.
This would benefit local businesses, both consumers and suppliers alike, and maybe in a small way we can help to save the planet too!
Continuing his success, he decided in the late nineties to form his own company: Read Quality Building Ltd was formed to run a number of developments with a Jersey based company, Jasell Estates. He then went on to design and build a further 62 properties ranging from flats to exclusive homes.
Since July 2011, Andrew is responsible for looking after the finances and project management and installations for Sustainable Wood Energy.
Daniel attended Sparsholt Agriculture college where he gained a BETEC Higher National Diploma in Agriculture (Production and Management) then went on to start his our business as an agricultural contractor.
His business rapidly diversified into Landscaping and Maintenance which included buying his first 2 stump grinding machines in 1999. In 2004 Daniel C Upton Ltd was formed having built up a client base of over 60 tree surgery companies across the south of England. The company grew to offer additional services such as tree transplanting, forestry flailing, tree surgery and root aeration employing around 30 staff. In 2006 the company became an Arboricultural Association approved contractor and went on the win its first council contract.
Daniels main focus over the last three years has been Southern Wood Energy Ltd which has evolved from Daniel C Upton Ltd using its tree surgery and forestry residues along with its specialist equipment to be a market leader in the wood fuel sector. He now manages the wood fuel supply chain for Sustainable Wood Energy Ltd.
