Since it was founded, Penumbrae Limited has provided Project Management services and Interim Management of Project Management teams, primarily to the financial services industry. Managing Director, Richard Elliott, explains how adversity was the basis of Penumbrae’s existence;
“I’d spent some 20 years involved in technology and business change delivery and working with some outstanding project professionals. Just when I thought my professional career was peaking, as Chief Technical Officer for a national software as a service provider, the 2008 credit crunch hit and I received news, while on holiday with my family, that myself, the CEO and the COO were all being released.
The following year provided needed time to reflect on what the next step might be and an opportunity presented itself while providing some interim management services to an ex-colleague and his Director, both of whom I’d been instrumental in recruiting some 10 years earlier! Was it now time to give something back?
Penumbrae was launched as the platform for providing the skills and experience developed over a number of years in not only continuing to demonstrate commercial project delivery, but also to provide assistance and direction to the next generation of project management professionals. The safe, yet sterile, classroom environment is a useful starting point for developing academic project knowledge, but the coalface is where sleeves are rolled up, hands are dirtied and skills are experienced and formed! That’s where Penumbrae will be, providing a 'virtual safety-net' for projects and project professionals.”
