The firm was set up in late 2009 by Martin Gaffney. Before becoming a Solicitor, Martin spent 25 years in the construction and thermal insulation industry as a Contracts Manager and Company Director. He also supervised contracts for a range of clients in the textile, petrochemical and defence industries. Martin is also an experienced Heavy Goods Vehicle driver and Transport Manager.
In Autumn 2011 Martin then took over the lease at the premises of Christopher Greaves Solicitors when he had to retire due to ill health. Since this time the firm has gone from strength to strength. In 2011 an office was opened in Ilkley and then a small office in Selby was opened in 2013.
In Spring 2014 Michelle Fieldhouse joined Martin at the firm also as a Director. Martin and Michelle share responsibility for the day to day running of the firm and managing the lawyers and support staff who provide the firms comprehensive legal services across its three offices.
At Martin Gaffney Solicitors we provide a Free Legal Advice Clinic at our Rothwell and Ilkley offices.
Attendance at the Clinic is by appointment only and we aim to provide commonsense free legal advice on a whole range of legal issues. From what to do when you find a piece of glass in a shop bought pasty to what your rights may be in relation to boundary dispute issues.
You will be provided with up to half an hours free advice. However, this is only advice and not free legal work.
Here at Martin Gaffney Solicitors our staff have many years of experience and a wealth of knowledge to draw on across many different areas of law. It is a rare day when we are unable to assist or at least point you in the direction of where to go to next.
is the Managing Director of the firm. He had a background in the building trade and transport industry prior to qualifying as a Solicitor. He also still proudly holds a Class 1 Heavy Goods Licence.
is an Equity Partner, Solicitor and Director of the firm. Michelle has a background in Personal Injury and is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). Michelle divides her time between being Compliance Officer for the firm and Practice Manager along with her own fee earning work.
is the firms Legal Cashier. She is responsible for the day to day running of the accounts department and compliance in relation to the same. A keen football supporter in both professional and amateur leagues.
is the Meeter and Greeter at our Rothwell branch. This is role that he has enjoyed since he first started at Martin Gaffney Solicitors, and is the firms oldest employee – he is a dog.
is our Business and Administration Apprentice based at the Rothwell office. She assists everyone with their administrative tasks and also helps answer the telephones.
is a Matrimonial and Family Law Consultant with over twenty years experience in this area. She is able to provide useful and practical advice in often difficult circumstances.
is an experienced Employment Consultant with over twenty years experience. With her commonsense and practical approach she is able to provide advice to both individuals and businesses in this often complex area of law.
is a Litigation Solicitor based in our Ilkley office. He provides practical and commonsense advice for businesses and individuals alike.
