MoCo Development Ltd, based at Alderfen Marshes on the Norfolk Broads, has been run by husband and wife team Stephen and Mary Ferrey, since setting up in 2009. Initially specialising in experiential training, coaching and team development, we have evolved to include wild-camping, canoe hire, canoe trails and other rural pursuits well suited to the Norfolk Broads environment.
Stephen has 25 years’ experience in the field of managing teams and working with individuals, to help them achieve their outcomes. With a working knowledge of running teams in the great outdoors, while working in aquaculture, fisheries and conservation, to managing teams in an office environment, within the insurance and finance sectors, Stephen has a practical insight into both environments.
With a degree in Fisheries Management, an MSc in Business Management, as well as qualifications in Teaching and Coaching, Stephen has come full circle, managing Alderfen Marshes as a nature reserve, wild camping area, canoe trail and team training environment.
Mary has worked in various sectors from hospitality to food and education, where she has gained experience of teamwork, organisational skills and customer care. With a working knowledge of running a small business, Mary focuses on the ‘behind the scenes’ activities to keep things running smoothly, as well as being ‘front of house’, on the programmes run at Alderfen Marshes and in other venues.
With a degree in European Regional Development and an MSc in Marketing and Business Management, Mary combines the theories covered in each with the practice of running a business in the training and leisure sectors.
As well as Stephen and Mary, MoCo are joined by an experienced and competent group of associates who assist in the delivery of many programmes. These associates, while also ‘doing their own thing’, have loyally contributed to the success and growth of MoCo over the years.
At MoCo our philosophy is simple … “
We use this philosophy in all our activities, generating moments which initiate individual effectiveness, team development and personal well-being.
as shown, identifies specific moments - each of which can provide clarity and set the scene for lasting change.
These allow our staff to communicate effectively with one another and across departments, to ensure that our firms’ goals are achieved.”
, available on site to hire, offer the chance to see kingfishers, otters, water voles and shoals of fish enjoying these tidal inland waterways. Situated a short paddle from the River Yare and Surlingham Broad, a quiet backwater on the Norfolk Broads, Alderfen Marshes provides the perfect opportunity for individuals, groups and teams to really get away from it all.
The marshes also offer the natural environment for willow production, harvested as a sustainable, carbon-neutral source of firewood as well as for willow-weaving and creating living willow structures.
It was an excellent afternoon which was simultaneously challenging, constructive, fun and unusual. It has provided us with a really good understanding of how we work collectively and a strong platform for which to continue growing as individuals and as a team.
