James joined the Practice in March 2013. James studied Optometry at Anglia Ruskin University where he first met Roger who was a supervisor there at the time. After graduating in 2010 he went on to work in a variety of multiple and independent practices. James lives with his wife and two daughters in North Walsham where they help lead a youth club at the community centre. As a family they enjoy walking the Norfolk coast with their whippet Sam.
Hollie joined the practice at the beginning of 2016. In this time she has developed a wealth of skills in dispensing ophthalmic lenses, from simple single vision to complex varifocals. Her keen eye for fashion and style has been put to use in meeting designers and helping select new frames. Hollie grew up in Norfolk and lives with her husband in Buxton where they enjoy running and roaming the beautiful surrounding countryside.

New lens designs and materials, as well as advanced care products, now make contact lenses easier, more comfortable and safer to wear than ever before. They offer much greater freedom when playing sport, and can help you look great for that special occasion. They particularly benefit individuals who have stronger prescriptions and thicker glasses.
In the past, people with astigmatism, (where the cornea is more oval than round, causing distortion of vision) were restricted to wearing glasses. Today’s ‘toric’ contact lenses can correct this and be custom made for each individual to provide clear vision. Many of these can now be ordered from stock and be available to wear in just a few days.
Presbyopia, gradually affects everyone over the age of about 40, making it difficult to shift focus between near and distant objects; this condition can also be managed with contact lenses.
These are small lenses, which allow the passage of oxygen through to the surface of the eye. They are made of firmer plastics than soft lenses, which makes them more durable and longer lasting. These lenses are particularly suitable for certain prescriptions such as high degrees of astigmatism. Some people find RGP lenses easier to handle than soft lenses and, although they may take a little longer to get used to, regular wearers find them just as comfortable as soft lenses.
Developments in lens care products have made it easier than ever to keep your contact lenses clean, comfortable and safe from harmful bacteria. Always remember that if your eyes feel uncomfortable, sore or irritable, you should take your lenses out and make an appointment to see your eyecare practitioner. When in doubt, take them out!
Always check with your practitioner before changing care products, as some solutions may be incompatible with certain lenses.
Check-ups provide the chance to ensure that all is healthy; the lenses you are wearing are still appropriate for your eyes and that you always have the choice of the best products available. Advances in lenses and solutions are constantly being made to bring new benefits to the wearer. Your practitioner will advise you on how often you should have check-ups. If all’s well, it is sensible to have your contact lenses checked once a year. If the lenses are new or need careful observation, check-ups will be at much shorter intervals. Always remember to wear your lenses when you go for your check and take your spectacles with you.
