ABOUT MEDSTROM LTD

Our range of specialist profiling beds help with falls management, assist safe mobilisation and promote effective bariatric care.

Medstrom is committed to helping customers eliminate all avoidable pressure ulcers by providing superior specialist surfaces for their treatment. Incorporating real innovation, our clinically & scientifically proven surfaces also can offer significant budgetary benefits when compared to traditional, alternative surface technologies.

Medstrom have a full range of bariatric equipment with a clear focus on patient dignity, safety of the patient and their caregivers, pressure ulcer prevention, safe mobilisation and providing a responsive service. Our rental offering provides a 24/7/365 service.

Medstrom Healthcare is the only independent provider of bed management services to the NHS, managing over 20% of the UK’s acute bed and mattress fleet. We are an independent hospital bed manufacturer and supply specialist products and services to over 150 hospitals in the UK and Ireland.

Although service is our core business, we have established a strong reputation for the supply of a range of innovative products in the specialist beds and surfaces sector, sourced via exclusive partnerships with manufacturers across Europe and the US. Our products are focused around meeting patient needs in challenging clinical situations. These include ultra low hospital beds, bariatric hospital beds, paediatric cots, pressure redistributing mattresses and a bed transport system.

At Medstrom we pride ourselves on the quality of our team, the responsiveness and flexibility of our approach, our track record of improving patient outcomes and our ability to offer a unique service and product offering to our customers.

"The transparency, efficiency, flexibility and friendliness of the Medstrom team makes them truly invaluable."

“The management of medical devices across 154 sites in Leicestershire and Rutland is challenging, but one that is made much easier by having a capable and reliable team around you. Medstrom have proven that we made the right choice during the tender process. The transparency, efficiency, flexibility and friendliness of the Medstrom team makes them truly invaluable. They free up my time and I can trust them to deliver on their promises and support me in making the best value, patient-centred decisions possible when it comes to optimising bed and mattress asset management. Medstrom really is an extension of LPT, and I’m very much looking forward to working with them over the coming months and years to achieve further successes.”

We negotiated a managed-service 'fixed' cost with Medstrom that has reduced our ad-hoc rental spend by over 60%

Following a review of our bariatric needs, and service requirements for UHL, we have recently decided to change the way our bariatric equipment is procured, without compromising service or patient care. UHL have moved from a traditional ad-hoc rental arrangement with a well-known bariatric equipment provider to a fully-managed service agreement with Medstrom.

Medstrom purchased our preferred products to add to existing Trust-owned products and for all products applied a service level agreement in line with the service delivered in our main total bed management contract. This service delivery has meant the right product for the right patient across all three sites, in an extremely timely manner.

We negotiated a managed-service fixed cost with Medstrom that has reduced our ad-hoc rental spend by over 60%.

In addition, we are benefiting from a guaranteed four-hour response time and the firm knowledge that our equipment will be maintained, managed and delivered fully decontaminated for each patient, helping to ensure a positive patient experience, preserve patient dignity and achieve our desired clinical outcomes.

“Our Medstrom Clinical Support Advisor Dee was contacted by the Duty Manager at the weekend due to a very large patient being admitted to the ED. Although Dee does not work at weekends she came into the ED for nearly five hours to assist with the arrival of the patient, arranged for the bariatric bed to be urgently delivered and remained in the department until the patient was transferred from the ambulance trolley to the bed.

Dee did not need to come in or arrange the delivery of the bed but she did and that was a significant help to the Duty Manager and the ED in being able to safely accept the patient.”

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you and your colleagues for helping my brother in law, Mr X, and in particular to your Clinical Advisor, Carole Stockman.

“I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you and your colleagues for helping my brother in law, and in particular to your Clinical Advisor, Carole Stockman. He has been on the ward for 7 months now and was having real difficulty with his bed not getting low enough to the floor, causing the bed to dig into his legs resulting in him being unable to stand – and needing to be hoisted.

Please thank Carole for responding quickly and making a huge difference. The whole family are extremely grateful to her.”

I found Medstrom to be a very approachable and customer-focused company who were very professional and easy to work with during our procurement process for beds

I found Medstrom to be a very approachable and customer-focused company who were very professional and easy to work with during our procurement process for beds. The Trust decided on 100% low beds to help prevent avoidable harm in the Trust and to improve patient outcomes whilst in hospital. The bed offers many features that will benefit every patient in our care. The bed we chose will also help us to future-proof our beds as we continually care for a more vulnerable complex mix of clients.

The Medstrom staff we meet are always willing to go the extra mile

Medstrom provide a ‘Total Bed Management’ system within our Trust which includes oversight of bed frames, mattresses and chairs. The Medstrom staff who work in partnership with Trust staff are very polite, supportive and proactive. The technicians are well trained and courteous and they are well supported by their line manager. The Medstrom staff we meet are always willing to go the extra mile if there is a benefit to patients and this collaborative approach is much appreciated.
