Rupert set up the firm back in 2001. Since then he has grown the business from one man working from home to prime town-centre offices with an ever expanding team.
He knows that many small businesses fail to make it to their first anniversary – let alone their tenth or beyond – because they are not able to recognise the need for planning and managing change. The thing he enjoys the most is using his experience to advise clients how to achieve the lifestyle they want and deserve.
In addition to working with clients Rupert’s role as Director keeps him busy supervising internal operations and managing the whole team to ensure the smooth running of the firm, making sure that we keep the needs of our clients at the heart of everything we do.
Michael joined the family business in March 2014 and has played a vital role in growing and developing the firm – including project managing our office move and expansion.
After more than a decade being behind the scenes at a successful Arts centre he decided to apply his management skills to a new field, and soon became the “face” of the firm. Using the same creative strategies used to coach our clients, he has driven our growth to the highest percentage seen in our history.
Michael is passionate about our clients’ successes, and offers advice sessions on getting started in networking, strategy planning and how to market your business effectively.
Despite all of this his most prized achievement to date has to be securing the future of the firm for generations to come, as he and wife Katie celebrated the arrival of Carthy Jnr in August 2016. They look forward to sharing their love of food, travel and entertainment with him.
Lisa has worked in accountancy for over a decade. She has a BA(Hons) in Accounting and Finance and is a Chartered Certified Accountant. An expert at handling our larger, multi-faceted accounts, she also supervises our junior accounts team to ensure that all internal processes are as effective as possible. This ensures we are able to provide an efficient service for all our clients. Lisa is a keen athlete and loves to train and compete as a member of her netball and badminton team, cheered on by her young son.
Having previously trained and worked at one of the “big 4” accountancy practices, Laura joined Carthy Accountants in 2016. She is a Chartered Accountant, having previously gained a PhD in Chemistry. A specialist in global mobility tax and the complex implications of having international operations, she consults and advises on complicated tax affairs. A keen dancer Laura enjoys spending time with husband Phil, and young daughter.
Edith has almost 10 years of practical experience and qualified in 2012 as a Chartered Certified Accountant. She joined the firm in the summer of 2017, moving to Carthy Accountants from another local accountancy practice. With a broad knowledge of accounting for small to medium enterprises she is particularly adept at preparing accounts using computerised bookkeeping software, and is in charge of ensuring that the team are up-to-date with any developments in technology that will help the firm deliver quality and precision. Edith enjoys yoga and is looking forward to getting back to the mats after taking some time off to have her daughter.
Catherine joined the firm in 2015 from a Regional development role at a national disability charity. A self-confessed lover of lists, Catherine can often be found welcoming new clients and guiding them through the onboarding process. As well as planning content for the our blog, Facebook and Twitter accounts, she is the first point of contact when visiting the office. In her spare time she runs her own small business as ‘At Home Consultant’ for a well-known high-street beauty brand, and writes as a guest critic and blogger for a regional theatre website.
Having previously worked in administration and payroll at a nearby RAF base, Jane now runs the payroll services for the firm’s clients as well as managing and advising on auto-enrolment and dealing with our credit control. Jane is a familiar and well-loved face to everyone visiting the office, and is the longest serving member of the team. Now that her three children are getting older Jane loves to spend her time reading and planning her next travelling adventure.
