Our Mission
The PhunkyFoods mission is to improve the dietary and physical activity habits of young children (aged 2-11 years) across the UK by helping to create supportive learning environments for health in early years settings and primary schools. Rapid increases in childhood obesity prevalence means that we must help empower children, alongside their families and communities, to take control over their wellbeing to enable them to live longer, healthier and more fulfilled lives.
The PhunkyFoods Programme aims to help early years settings and primary schools to deliver a whole-school approach to healthy lifestyles and to engage with all pupils, and their families, in promoting tangible health behaviour changes in a fun, lively and positive manner.

PhunkyFoods is a subsidiary company of Purely Nutrition Ltd, a nutrition consultancy founded in 2004 by Dr Jennie Cockroft and Ms Sorrell Fearnall.
After 18 years living and working in London for an international IT company, Helen moved back to Yorkshire and joined Purely Nutrition 6 years ago providing support for all areas of the business. Helen is now the company bookkeeper managing day to day finances. She also works for several other local small businesses, providing finance and other business support services.

Our private partners also work hard to give PhunkyFoods a powerful voice to help us lobby government on behalf of schools to kick-start additional funding streams which they can utilise to invest in vital healthy lifestyles programmes.
In the case of the PhunkyFoods Programme our PPPs include public funding and support (at national and local level), as well as corporate sponsorships, and has demonstrated innovation and sustainability after almost 10 years of running. The successes of the PPPs we have forged over the past 10 years have been formally recognised through awards from national organisations such as Business in the Community (BITC) and the Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH).
Some may consider there is a conflict of interest with corporate sponsorship of a healthy eating programme in schools, but we do not believe this to be the case. This is not an opportunity for the sponsors to promote foods to children. It is in the best interests of the food industry that their consumers are able to make informed food choices, eat balanced diets and have long and healthy lives. For this reason we have produced this document to help provide an open and transparent relationship between our private partners and the schools with which we work.
Company logos are not used on material accessed by school children and no advertising to children is permitted.
We do not endorse or promote any products via the PhunkyFoods programme.
