Much of our own work involves identifying and highlighting the fundamental patterns being played out by our clients to help them identify what is really going on so as to better define what they want, where they are now and how to get from here to there. Spiral Dynamics helps us with that.
Spiral Dynamics has been likened to scaffolding within which many other theories and approaches can fit. It provides the high level map that points towards best fit of other theories, practices and processes to the situation at hand, providing a structure to answer the question, “How is it best for who to manage (coach or teach or lead) whom, to do what, when? The answer is dependent on where the individual, team or organisation is currently sitting within the Spiral and what their next step is. Somebody may be great at managing from a DQ frame and struggle with an ER frame or be great at facilitating a DQ to ER transition but not an ER to FS transition reflecting of course their own profile and also their behavioural flexibility.
Business and marketing strategies often fail because the designers use their ‘own mirrors’ and assume the people they are attempting to reach share the same values systems they do. What value systems are you knowingly or unknowingly marketing to?
The question is not “how do you motivate people?” but “how do you relate what you are doing to their natural motivational flows?”

Our work is about supporting, developing and enabling people, individually and together, in teams and organisations, to become the best they can be; to go beyond where they are now. We are also here to provide a rich programme of open workshops and programmes, providing leading edge, meaningful, substantive and sustainable development.

We (Paul King and Marie Faire) started The Beyond Partnership in 2003 after working as independent coaches, trainers and consultants for 15+ years. Our vision was to create an organisation to enable us to do more than we could do individually and specifically to provide a platform to offer leading edge personal and professional development open programmes and events alongside our direct client work.
For us our life and work is about making a difference. We coined the name Beyond since it is a vision and concept that links us, our attitudes, our orientation and what we offer. Significant learning and change takes place at one’s edge not within our comfort zone – we have to be prepared to go beyond what we already do and know. We ourselves are by nature explorers of ideas and our own experience. We are also pragmatists, we bring to our clients the best of what we discover and the best of what works.
We work with individuals, teams and organisations to realise potential, raise performance and to become more successful and fulfilled, but not at the expense of others. Beyond to us means the next step and beyond the next step. We link now to the future, offering tools and processes for self maintained on-going development and for making a positive contribution. We support and facilitate others to move from where they are to where they want to be. We take account of context and take a systemic perspective.
We work collaboratively with our clients and are committed to them. We are often told that we are “not like other consultants” which is always good to hear.
