Our accommodation is set in beautiful landscaped gardens with views over the nearby islands of Ithaca and Cephalonia. Vassiliki is famed for its unique wind conditions. The light morning breeze is perfect for beginners who want to learn the basics, or for those more skilled to perfect their techniques. Almost every afternoon, strong cross-shore winds provide excitement for even the most experienced sailors and windsurfers. The bay of Vassiliki is enclosed on three sides, making it a truly unique and safe environment for everyone.
Wildwind is an RYA recognised centre but, unlike many sailing holiday centres, we offer the entire range of dinghy and multihull courses at no extra charge. When you arrive, just let us know that you are keen. Our instructors are a standard above everyone else: most have a serious racing pedigree and some have even won national championships. You can join in special training weeks at the beginning of the season with Olympic coaches. Ask anyone in the sailing business where they would like to go on a beach based sailing holiday and you'll find that Wildwind's name comes up over and over again.
Needless to say, at Wildwind we are passionate about sailing. Few things are as important to us as sharing some of this passion by introducing young people to this wonderful sport. We consider the Kids Club an integral part of Wildwind.
The Wildwind Kids Club is open to youths from 7 to 17 years old. We are occasionally happy to take younger ones, as long as you feel they are able to cope with learning to sail. We cannot provide supervision unless they are booked on our sailing programme.
Wildwind is well suited for families, couples and solo travellers. Our various types of accommodation offer you a range of options, so please do ask us for advice on which particular accommodation best suits your needs. We are here to help!
The beach and pool bar restaurants in Vassiliki provide relaxing retreats and offer a range of appetising, homemade fare. This includes delicious fresh salads, Mediterranean snacks and meals from breakfast through to early evening. Because we do not price our holidays to include meals, you are free to enjoy the flavour and variety of the local tavernas, bars and cafes in the harbour, which is just a ten-minute stroll away.
The Melas Hotel is run by the Melas family: Ilias, Eleni and Ourania. Like all our hotels, it is just a few metres from the beach. Most rooms have a sea view and all have air conditioning, are en-suite and are equipped with a fridge as well as tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel has two floors, with the top floor offering the best views. A recent addition to the hotel offers slightly better appointed rooms, but without direct views of the sea.
The Kavadias hotel is run by Nikos, Effy and Kryssa Kavadias. It is a simple but comfortable place to stay and most rooms have either a view of the sea, the pool or the surrounding mountains. Over the past years, the Kavadias bathrooms have been completely refurbished - Nikos has done a great job! All rooms have air conditioning, are en-suite and are equipped with a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.
