HPW Architecture is an industry-leading sustainable architecture and design practice with over 30 years experience in the leisure, retail, residential and commercial sectors. From our base in Hampshire, we operate throughout the UK, Europe and North America. We deliver innovative, sustainable solutions to the design needs and budget of our widely varied client base.

As a practice we always take the time to listen to our clients in order to fully understand their needs and consider the site-specific context of their projects. We take a sustainable approach and assess whole life value in everything we do. HPW Architecture have long been recognised to be at the forefront of pioneering sustainable solutions and green technologies. We constantly review and apply innovative solutions that deliver aesthetically pleasing, low-carbon structures, which reduce or remove our clients’ energy bills.

Our customers and clients get the best value from our services when we are involved very early in the process. This means input from the inception, feasibility studies and planning right the way through to completion and post occupancy evaluation.

We are able to offer a full set of services and share excellent working relationships with a nationwide and international team of like-minded consultants and contractors.

As a RIBA chartered practice we follow the RIBA Plan of Work and provide a range of design services including:

More than one hundred definitions of sustainable development exist, but most widely used is from the World Commission on Environment and Development, presented in 1987.

Our knowledge and experience mean we are able to deliver environmentally sensitive solutions that best fit both the business and environment. We are able to consistently reduce carbon emissions and cut energy costs.

HPW Architecture has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the AECB since Gary Wilburn became a student member many years ago. During his membership Gary has been instrumental in getting HPW actively involved with local group meetings, which culminated in his appointment as a Trustee in 2011.

The Green Halo is about making the protection of our natural assets part and parcel of planning for the future. It aims to do that by encouraging public and private organisations, communities and individuals to recognise the economic value of the natural environment, the “natural capital”, and ensure that it is taken properly into account when decisions are made about how land and habitats are managed or developed.

The Green Halo aims to help find practical ways in which our environment can help tackle many of the challenges society faces today: From improving public health or creating sustainable business, to making better use of renewable resources or addressing atmospheric pollution and climate change.

As founder members, HPW Architecture fully supports the aims of the New Forest Green Halo Partnership.  To find out how you can get involved please email:

“HPW Architecture has established a strong track record for delivering commercially successful and aesthetically pleasing projects for the University of Southampton.  The upturn in sales enjoyed by the Student Union facilities recently re-designed by HPW is a credit to their vision for the most appropriate enhancement of the commercial space.

“We cannot take natural environments such as the New Forest for granted, everyone must do their bit to ensure it is preserved for future generations. As a youth charity we are dedicated to preserving the very environment that provides so much for us and our visitors. Thanks to our partnership with sustainability experts HPW we were able to create a boathouse that will help achieve the charity’s goals for many years to come.”

"Always flexible and pro-active, the team provides a hands on approach to the architectural process of designing and delivering our on-going development needs. Whether a small makeover or large scale redevelopment.
