Founded in 1993 by our principal Hugh Obbard, the company quickly developed a ‘one-stop-shop’ approach to property investment, managing the entire process in-house. Bringing together the fragmented elements of dealing with different companies and suppliers under one roof, has resulted in greater efficiency, more control and premium levels of rental and resale values. 

Despite being launched in the midst of a property downturn, Obbard soon established itself as a highly successful property investment company in London and within a few years we had acquired and developed our 100th luxury property.

Our focus is always on adding value to maximise investment returns. “The rationale for setting up Obbard (originally Hugh Obbard and Associates) in 1993 was to be opportunistic at a time when the market was weak. At that time the UK property market was at a low point and talk persisted of double dip recessions.

At Obbard, having recognised the potential so early on, we can position ourselves as the company who truly understands the market and how to extract the maximum returns amongst a sector that is all too often over simplified, with advice on offer being sadly absent of foresight.”

Obbard is one of the first property investment companies in London to identify the need for a fully integrated process of sourcing, acquiring, refurbishing and managing a purchase.

At Obbard we place great importance on building long-term relationships with our clients, which range from private investors to institutions. We treat each client as an individual, whether we are working with a private client seeking a one bedroom flat in Kensington through to, for example, the first resale of a three bedroom flat in the luxury development One Hyde Park at £17 million. For institutional and family office investors, we have advised on residential acquisitions up to a single value of £180 million.

Our clients are based worldwide. In 2012, for example, we advised clients from all corners of the earth - India, Russia, Italy, South Africa, Qatar, Jordan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, USA, Canada, Ireland, Australia and the United Kingdom.  Obbard also has many clients who continue to invest with us on a regular basis.
