Instruments in Toronto. The super-talented two-man team of Gordon Hoops and Bruce O'Hearon provides the designs for the SP Max and a relationship is created that endures to this day. Many of Elcomponent's most successful instruments owe their existence to the design skills of these guys.
A newly independent Elcomponent starts to build a tailored product range designed specifically for UK sub-metering systems, and links up with digital design specialists Processor Solutions. Chief designer Chris Donegani creates the 4CPSI, a 4 channel data logger (the ancestor to today's 4MOD) and enters a relationship with Elcomponent that still endures.
Automatic sub-metering systems are added to the company's portfolio. Capitalising in the fact that the VIPD3 and its successors offered RS485 MODBUS communications, Elcomponent becomes one of the first UK providers of MODBUS-based AMR (Automatic Meter Reading). This technology became the defacto standard for all such systems and now forms part of almost every BMS and AMR system.

Gary brought a wealth of business accounting experience to Elcomponent which goes some way to explain why he is now the General Manager & Financial Director. What is less obvious is that he also provides all our IT support, and a lot of customer support too!
The company's metering systems take a huge step forward with the launch of our MeterRing MM M&T software. The product went on to provide the software interface for hundreds of UK sub-metering systems, plus a good few worldwide as well. One of the most successful site-based M&T packages it has helped hundreds of businesses save financially. Its descendants are still going strong!
CHRIS FACKRELL JOINS THE COMPANY

At a price of just £199 it's sold in huge numbers to provide energy managers with a basic tool for measuring electrical consumption safely and easily. Its descendant is still a part of our range of portable instruments.
RAI GAIDYS JOINS THE COMPANY
Our Lead Installer Rai is a fully qualified Electrical Engineer and has a degree in the same subject. He did spend a few weeks packing bananas before arriving at Elcomponent though! His experience across a variety of disciplines, combined with his meticulous approach and attention to detail is one of the reasons that Elcomponent installations are second to none in the industry.
The launch of the SPC DTM (Data Transfer Module) is another Elcomponent first. This time it's the UK's first cloud-connected Energy Data Logger.
Elcomponent becomes a Gold Partner with cloud software specialists Dexma. The result is MeterWeb 2, a new and highly innovative cloud-based M&T software package integrated with Elcomponent's market leading AMR installation and data collection skills.
