Ricketts Radiators Ltd were formed in 1977 by brothers Andy and Dave Ricketts following the untimely death of their father, Mervyn in a road accident. Mervyn was a former manager of a national radiator company and a well known name in the South Wales motor trade. Andy and Dave worked day and night to get the fledgling business off the ground, adhering to their father’s principles of getting ahead by giving great customer service with attention to detail and quality a priority. During the 1980’s there were a lot of open cast mines in the South Wales area and the rapidly expanding company serviced most of them. Repairing and recoring the large radiators of the huge earth moving machines.

It became clear in 1986 that the 1200 sq ft workshop they traded from was becoming too small and a move to a bigger and better purpose built 4800 Sq ft facility became a reality. There it was possible to expand from the core of the business, the supply and repair of radiators, to move on to supply, repair and remanufacturing of motorcycle radiators, the supply of general number plates and petrol and diesel tanks.

As the 1990’s approached air conditioning became more common in vehicles and the bold decision to set up sister company Radcool was made. This company specialises in servicing air conditioning on cars, vans and trucks and also the repair of aluminium air condensers. Over the past 10 years the materials used to manufacture radiators changed from the conventional copper and brass to plastic and aluminium. New repair methods had to be adopted allowing Ricketts Radiators to lead the field in the repair and recore of any radiator made from aluminium, from a small motorcycle up to a 20 ton forklift radiator. The make up of fuel tanks has also changed with steel, plastic and aluminium tanks now available, but also repairable. Since 2009 the company has provided a specialist alloy wheel repair service at a fraction of the cost of a new alloy wheel.
