After Philip’s retirement, the business stayed in the family, and his daughter Sarah took over, eventually expanding the business to the larger store that we have today following the market’s closure in 2012. Lancaster’s landscape and culture is as important to us now as it ever was, and we’re delighted to be located in the middle of all the hubbub, watching the next generation of traders take to their stalls on market day!
Gillisons is also committed to looking after the environment wherever we can, and we’re very pleased to have been recognised for this, with strong ecological practices that do make a difference. While trying to reduce waste in our processes and procedures is a big piece of the puzzle, we also help our customers do their bit by providing a range of eco-friendly alternatives to traditional bags, including a collection made using hemp (a wonderfully ecological material), and easy to use shopping bags that can replace plastic carrier bags – and trust us, all those 5p bags do add up.
Most important to Gillisons, though, is our customers; we’ve been committed to delivering excellent products since we first set up shop, and absolutely nothing has changed. Head over to our
to see pictures showing just a small collection of the different products we have in store. This includes bright and decorative backpacks for kids, stunning Radley handbags and gifts, and leather briefcases, messenger bags and wallets.
