Iron Horse Media Ltd provides professional editorial services for agricultural, groundcare and equestrian publishers and businesses.
Focusing on news, trends and techniques I aim to get to the heart of every story and provide a unique angle for editors. Regulation impacts increasingly on businesses in every sphere and I have a special interest in putting across the latest information in a clear, reader-friendly manner.
I work closely with manufacturers of agricultural and horticultural machinery to find the key selling points of their products and promote them effectively to their customers. Technical copywriting requires close liaison with a wide range of stakeholders involved in the launch of a product or service and I have a proven track record in developing powerful copy for brochures, websites and promotional newsletters.
While my focus is mainly on editorial, my experience in exhibitions means I am also well placed to help and advise on how to get the most out of trade shows and product launches.
My love of rural industries was sparked at an early age with a visit to the Royal Show where I recall standing next to the wheel of a huge tractor for a photo. A twist of fate almost 20 years later saw me go from a job in sports and equestrian products marketing to a sales and marketing role at the Royal Agricultural Society, focusing on – the Royal Show! A personal passion for horses was channelled into helping with the launch of the British Equestrian Event (now Your Horse Live) but the main task was in adapting the Royal Show to meet the needs of a fast-changing farming industry. I soon realised that my talents lay more with marketing and writing in particular and was lucky enough to be taken on as Assistant Editor at Farm Contractor and Large Scale Farmer, on a very steep learning curve. Publisher Anthony Collier then launched Amenity Machinery and Equipment and I was proud to fulfil the same role on what was considered the definitive groundcare machinery journal. After a stint as News Editor at Horse and Hound - an exciting time with the Hunting Bill going through and equestrian sport in a significant period of change - I returned as Editor for Farm Contractor and AME.
In 2007, the desire to cover a more diverse range of subjects and in particular the equestrian industry led me to establish Iron Horse Media, the name reflecting what I believe is a unique business scope.
I have since been joined by my husband Paul Carley who provides business and accounting support, adds professional photography to the portfolio and is my all-round right-hand man!
