Company History
Silverbox films was established in 2006 by Brighton based Director/Producer Martin Smith.
Martin - “When I set up Silverbox my aim was to become a resource that helps people to get their ideas off the ground and to develop practical, well managed productions whether they want to make a narrative film, documentary, promotional video, corporate video, run educational events, workshops or just promote local talent”.
A steady flow of productions followed with Martin experimenting with working in schools, colleges and universities to developing creative projects that would engage young people in cross curricular learning.
Martin didn’t anticipate the response that would follow from his work and was very quickly receiving interest from local businesses, councils, trusts, charities and even government organisations about developing promotional projects.
Over the next few years Martin continually invested in new equipment and his own professional development in order to continue delivering the high quality/low cost productions that he had become so well known for.
We run fun-filled, creative film-making workshops for children aged 8 to 16. Our most popular projects are our after school clubs, holiday schools and parties, focusing on creating bespoke films that are written, performed, directed and edited by the students themselves. With a combined 20 years of industry experience, we provide students the opportunity to learn a variety of creative skills using professional software with a range of camera, sound and lighting equipment.
Video and photography are becoming increasingly important in both schools and the workplace. Our projects are a fantastic opportunity for students to take complete creative control over a production with the added freedom to do so in a relaxed and safe environment.
Our team are very friendly and, if we’re honest, quite often a bit goofy. We’re passionate about helping students develop their creative skills, make new friends and most importantly have lots of fun! We’d love you to get involved in our film projects. Perhaps you’ve got a budding film star in the family, have a party idea you’d like to discuss, or would like to find out more about what we do. You can get in touch by emailing us at
If we are in a workshop or filming on location we may be unable to take your call immediately.
