The business has been family owned since 1945 when Reginald Charles Burt (grandfather of the current Managing Director) bought the company after more than 12 years service as Resident Baker. He renamed it Ogmore Vale Bakery after the town of its origin. To this day, the Burt family remain committed to the continued development of unprecedented quality products and services.

Still operating from our ancestral region, the company originated from an historical shop known as the ‘The Gwalia’. This was founded in the 1880s and then later famously rebuilt brick-by-brick as a cultural landmark at the internationally renowned Welsh National History Museum at St Fagans, near Cardiff.

Burts Biscuits and Cakes are manufacturers of traditional British teatime cakes and novelty shortbread biscuits and have been bringing quality baked goods from Wales to the world since 1945.

Now distributing across the UK, Europe, USA and Asia, all of our products are manufactured with the finest ingredients and artisan methods to provide delivery of the finest tasting cakes and biscuits.

A traditional, British family business now in our third generation of family ownership who all still play an active role in making, selling and distributing its products. We have been providing popular teatime treats with British customers for the past 75 years and are now bringing our traditional hand-crafted teatime cakes and biscuits to the rest of the world through a variety of distribution channels.
