. My wife ran the school's PTA for a while, so I often got roped in to help with events. Also, I helped the school set up a vegetable garden, which included building raised beds and a poly-tunnel. We recently built a second poly-tunnel, which the school are using as an outside classroom to support foundation phase teaching.
You can probably tell that I developed this website myself. I know the presentation is pretty basic but I hope the content makes up for it. I used Joomla for this site, an open source content management system that seems to provide a good balance of power, flexibility and ease of use.
. It provides a simple reference for anyone interested in the basics of health and safety, giving links to free resources. Also, it gives some examples of the opposite, in the form of seriously silly safety stories.
I started working as a consultant in 1996. First for a small human factors consultancy and then for the risk and safety department of a larger company. In 2005 I decided to go it alone, first as a sole trader, moving on to form AB Risk Limited in 2008.
I believe my combination of academic learning and practical experience; engineering and human factors knowledge makes me particularly able to assess the risks my clients have to manage. They seem to find my recommendations helpful and effective. Also, I seem particularly able at engaging with the workers at the 'sharp end' and facilitating multi-discipline workshops.
I have a very long list of past clients that include Shell, BP, Centrica, Scottish and Southern Energy, Flogas, Millennium Chemicals, Tata Steel, Corus, Ensus, Lucite, Ineos, Maersk, Petrofac, Siemens, Huntsman, Veolia, Pfizer, Dragon LNG, Novartis, ConocoPhilips, Dow Corning, Kemira, OMV, Qatar Gas, Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Saudi Aramco.
