Our company was originally set up ten years ago by Carol Johnson and Joanne Whiteman who combined their business knowledge and catering expertise. Their original plan was to provide two schools with nutritious healthy meals from their small unit with a café in the front. The café never opened as the school meal business went from strength to strength to the point that six years ago, they bought a purpose built premise from which they now provide meals for over twenty six schools throughout the county.
Children eating healthier at school is high on the political agenda and school meals form an integral part in achieving a healthier lifestyle. As of September, all Reception, year one and year two children now receive a free meal. There are many reasons why you should choose a school lunch for your child. Research has shown that a healthy nutritious school meal can provide your child with the energy required to concentrate in class and let off steam at break times. With less than 1% of lunch boxes meeting the statutory nutrient guidelines to which school caterers have to adhere to, eating school meals is the better choice for the future wellbeing of our children.
Our menus are developed in line with School Meals Legislation and are nutritionally analysed, this means that our menus contain less fat, sugar and salt, therefore making them more nutritious and balanced.
We are based at Lincoln Enterprise Park and operate from a purpose built premise. We work closely with North Kesteven district council to ensure our meals and premises meet the higher approval standards required and are in accordance with the current environmental health regulations. We currently have a 5 star rating, the highest grade possible.
We are happy to help with a child’s dietary requirements but this responsibility must be shared between GLC, the school and the child’s parent. Together we can ensure that the child only receives food that is suitable for their diet. Although we are happy to provide dietary required meals, some of our ingredients are externally sourced so therefore we cannot guarantee 100% against any allergy.
