Don’t Lean Back (dlb…) was founded by teacher, Tom Wates to supply schools with sturdy, stylish, comfortable chairs that support children properly and prevent them from leaning backwards. dlb’s chair is manufactured from tough materials and has been designed with bold colours and a handsome form to help create an inspiring learning environment in the classroom.

Building on the success of the 2007 launch of the Max chair, dlb has spent the last two years perfecting the product. Intensive research and consultation with experts in the field of chair design and posture has led to the launch of the new Max II. The new design builds on the trademark ‘don’t lean back’ frame and ergonomic excellence but as well as being stronger and better looking, the Max II is more affordable and can be manufactured quickly to meet a 7-10 day delivery lead-time in a choice of six colours.

From the very start we’ve followed our passion for redefining seating for education. In 2006 we changed the market forever with the world’s first true ‘Don’t Lean Back’ (dlb…) chair. But simply starting a revolution was not enough for us. We wanted our chairs to be distinct and a product that would sit equally as comfortably in a modern design office, a desirable home and an inspiring classroom.
