My name is Will Johnson and I grew up in the building trade, working school weekends and holidays with my dad’s building firm in Telford, Shropshire. Having worked hard to become a trained master carpenter and joiner, I established Johnson Renovations in 2002, specialising in the renovations of period and listed buildings in Shropshire.
Dad’s firm specialised in modernisations and extensions but I’ve always loved working on older properties. It’s the finishing touches and the intricacies that fascinate me; overcoming obstacles and thinking my way around problems. With stone built properties, there’s rarely ever a straight wall; they’re full of quirks and character. Everyone I employ to work on our projects has to share the same passion.
We’ve worked on some beautiful Tudor, Georgian and Victorian properties in Shrewsbury, Much Wenlock, Ironbridge, Telford and Bridgnorth. We might be restoring an old bathroom in a little stone cottage, opening up an old fireplace, or putting in something really contemporary style built-in cupboards. It’s about preserving as much character as we can whilst making the period property work for you as a modern family home.
We are all passionate about what we do and take great pride in giving you a beautiful home that works for your family.
Johnson Renovations
If you live in a period property, then you'll appreciate that nothing beats the satisfaction of seeing a building restored to its former glory, revealing the charm of all the lovely characteristics that made you want to buy your home in the first place. We are passionate about all the renovations we complete for our clients and use sympathetic traditional methods which are critical in preserving the building’s original character.
The way people used your property when it was first built is different from the way you will want to use it today – working with Johnson Renovations, you’ll find a partner who enjoys the challenge of creating workable, practical space for modern family living whilst staying faithful to the property’s heritage.
Undertaking such a renovation, however, can be a risky venture – planning, listed building consent, building regulations as well as firm budgetary control are all essential areas to get right. Mistakes in old buildings are usually costly to put right.
We are proud of our reputation and the excellent relationships we have developed with planners, architects and conservation officers - we can steer you around the possible pitfalls of working with period and listed properties. We also offer a complete project management service to make sure your project is completed on time and on budget. As long standing members of the Guild of Master Craftsmen, our attention to detail and careful craftsmanship guarantees the very best of finishes.
Before you think any further about how you want to develop your period home, speak to us for a no-obligation chat about how to proceed. We are a Shropshire based family owned building and renovation company with decades of experience. A name you can trust and a pedigree to match.
