Jason Mills and Oliver Booth run Writtle Forest Consultancy. They have worked within the Arboricultural and Forestry industries for over twenty years.
Planning and development, in relation to trees and ecology, is a major part of Writtle Forest Consultancy's work. We have both worked on many large and exclusive development projects, for national house builders, public trusts, local authorities, statutory fire and rescue services, multinational consulting, construction and development companies, institutions and government departments.
We are equally at home when working on small planning projects, such as extensions or 'demolish and rebuild'. Our focus is always toward achievable solutions working for our clients’ requirements whilst maintaining the ecological and arboricultural integrity of the project.
Management of trees is a fundamental aspect of the company. Whether this involves open space, large tracts of land or private gardens, where the client is responsible for the tree stock. We have established experience in creating suitable strategies for management, compliant with all legal requirement.
Our tree inventory surveys and tree risk assessments provide suitable management plans for tree owners.
The company was originally established in 1995 to manage Writtle Forest (from where we now take our name).

Originally established in 1995, Writtle Forest Consultancy Ltd is based in Chelmsford, Essex and provides arboricultural, ecological and woodland consultancy services. The company works primarily throughout London, the Home Counties and the East of England, though often our work takes us throughout the UK.
Management of trees is a fundamental aspect of the company. We have established experience in creating management strategies as well as producing inventory surveys and risk assessments. We provide clients with solutions to managing their tree stock in terms of best practice and their legal obligations. Survey data can provide other information for the client such as value of tree stock and carbon capture.
We provide advice and liaise with timber buyers and end users on behalf of the client and advise on infrastructure requirements for harvesting and processing as well as potential grant opportunities and applications.
