A drone survey, partly funded by heritage organisation, Historic England, has given a fascinating view of all three mills on site, and should help us to identify the next issues to resolve on the roof.
Dalton Mills is building up a strong reputation as a filming location in the North, thanks to its wide range of spaces that can serve as a blank canvas for film crews. Last year, it was the main backdrop for major feature film, the Limehouse Golem, starring Bill Nighy and Olivia Cooke. Large parts of the set from the Limehouse Golem were left in-situ at the mill, making Dalton Mills one of the only filming locations in the North with a purpose built prison set.
Yorkshire was recently dubbed the 'Hollywood of the UK' by the Independent, thanks to a host of film and TV productions that have been filmed in the region, so The Limehouse Golem is the latest accolade for the county.
We have already had some screen success - it was the backdrop to the first season of Peaky Blinders, and BBC show Sunday Life, as well as North and South and a host of Bollywood films, but The Limehouse Golem will be one of the most high profile productions to take place at the mill.
As well as Nighy and Cooke the Limehouse Golem, which is being made by independent production company, Day Tripper, boasts renowned actors such as Douglas Booth and Eddie Marsan. The gothic, murder mystery, set in 1880, is in the style of Se7en and the Silence of the Lambs, and the vein of The Woman in Black and it is due for release in 2016
- and it gives an excellent overview of the scale and potential of Dalton Mills, as well as hopefully helping us to make the historic Water Tower a sound strucure, and helping us to resolve any final issues with the Genappe Mill roof.
Dalton Mills is a former textile mill, located by the side of the River Worth, on Dalton Lane in Keighley, near Bradford. The majestic mill, which has been a landmark of the town for more than 140 years, is now having a multi-million pound make-over to restore it to it’s former glory, and with massive regeneration taking place in Airedale, there has never been a better time to consider a Keighley business centre.
Combining the beauty and tranquility of the Aire Valley, with the convenience of Keighley town centre, Dalton Mills offers the perfect balance for businesses looking to relocate.
