In 2011, I was a joint founder and chair of Kirkdale Village - a traders and community group which aimed to bring more people to our high street and strengthen community. We worked hard to regenerate Kirkdale, winning funding for planters, street trees and bike stands and helping to organise events. Kirkdale Village worked alongside Hugh Dames to host a highly successful 2011 Kirkdale Christmas Pop-Up which saw some 50 activities and events taking place in some 30 shops and other venues up and down Kirkdale. I was also an early Director of SEE3 Ltd, the company set up to administer the money won after Sydenham, Forest Hill and Kirkdale bid for funding as a 'Portas Pilot' to revitalise the high street. For more info please visit
Happily, it worked! Business got busier, and Alhambra is now fully occupied selling Spanish tiles. These days, we work with a lot of interior designers and architects, especially those seeking something bespoke and high end. While we are not the cheapest, we certainly believe we are one of the best, and our authentic tiles are all of high quality and durable. Due to the overwhelming demand for our products, Alhambra now runs an appointment-only system. We are available Tuesday-Friday between 11am & 5pm for viewings and consultations. We can come in out of hours with plenty of notice - evenings currently preferred. We do ask you to contact us before you come, so that we can give you our undivided attention.
In our previous life, we had a full programme of Spanish events and parties at Alhambra. We're too busy for that now but we still have the beautiful little garden behind the showroom, and I hope we'll be hosting some new events come the summer.
