6ixes and 7evens Ltd is run by Simon and Rachel and we have been in business in a variety of guises since May 2012. The company was set up when Rachel found herself out of work with a young family to support, and after trying a few different product ideas and methods, we finally found the right product during a visit to a trade show in the Autumn of 2013. After some in depth research, we discovered that carving photos into the surface of wood, whilst popular in America, was virtually unheard of in the UK. So we took the gamble and purchased a machine in the Spring of 2014, and we haven’t looked back.
Each order we receive is dealt with by us in house. Nothing is outsourced to other businesses, and we find this means we have a tighter control on our products. Once we have received your photo from your order, we will crop it to make a best fit for the product you have purchased, often focussing on the faces to give as much detail as possible, although we will use our discretion on this. If a photo is not suitable for a product, we will advise you as soon as we possibly can explaining why it is unsuitable, thus giving you the opportunity to provide a different photo, or opt for a different product. Once we have the photo, it goes through a transition process in our software which turns it into a language which our machine can read. We then set the machine running, and this does the bulk of the work. On completion of the carving, we stain the product, and then lightly sand it to give colour differentials in the finish.
