ABOUT OPERATION K9 LTD

Hydrotherapy played a large part in his own rehabilitation so he has now found a way to incorporate his love of dogs with a career that will be less physically demanding. Being able to help dogs recover from injury or surgery is extremely rewarding and James is all too aware of the time and effort it takes to improve muscle development and range of movement of damaged limbs and joints.

During his Army career, he was a member of the Clay Pigeon Shooting Team and is a trained coach with the CPSA, making use of his skills developed during his years of assisting on local game shoots. He is now focusing his talents on dog training and canine hydrotherapy.

Freya Mansell MCHA

Freya has always had an interest in small animals. Starting out walking local dogs for pocket money, with ambitions to work in the animal industry when she was older. After doing a degree at Leeds Metropolitan University she worked at Askham Bryan College in the animal management department and completed a dog grooming course alongside this.

Freya originally joined Operation K9 part-time as a pool-room assistant and was planning on going to study as a vet nurse. But after working in the hydrotherapy environment she discovered a love of working with dogs that needed therapy and rehabilitation. She has now completed a level 3 certificate in small animal hydrotherapy at Hawksmoor Hydrotherapy centre and is working full time at Operation K9 as a hydrotherapist alongside Rebecca and James. She has developed a keen interest in complementary therapies and working with owners to develop rehabilitation plans to give their pets a better quality of life. She would like to continue her training in the future with nutrition and physiotherapy being the next on the list

“They were amazing with my boy who certainly isn’t a fan of swimming but after only two sessions he was swimming like a pro. Love that they use positive reinforcement too. I was given lots of exercises to do with Dexter at home to help his rehabilitation from arthroscopy surgery for elbow dysplasia. Would highly recommend them. Brilliant and I’m sure Dexter is starting to really enjoy his hydrotherapy already.”

Welcome To Operation K9

We opened the hydrotherapy pool in September 2014 after one of our own dogs was recommended the treatment to help recover from orthopaedic surgery. We amalgamated our skills to make this service accessible for dog owners in the North Yorkshire area

Operation K9 Ltd has a state of the art canine hydrotherapy pool and offer sessions to owners of dogs with injuries, have had surgery or that wish to maintain or improve fitness. We are a team of qualified professionals dedicated to providing high quality care to dogs in the North Yorkshire area. We are a small family business, we feel it is important your dog has continuation of care so you won’t see a different person at each session.

If you think hydrotherapy would benefit your pet we are happy to discuss cases with yourself and your vet and welcome visits to the centre.

We believe nutrition is a large part of the care of our canine friends and we strive to educate customers of the importance of this when choosing a diet. We are passionate about helping you make the right decisions for your pets, from food, to toys to training.
