Cooking Kneads is situated in Shrewsbury at 3 Wyle Cop which has the longest stretch of independent shops in Britain!
Cooking Kneads is Shrewsbury’s only independent cookshop and 3 Wyle Cop has been the home of a cookshop for over 30 years. In 2015 Gill, a former employee launched Cooking Kneads and re-introduced trusted well known brands such as Le Creuset, Robert Welch, Wusthoff and Silverwood giving the shop a new lease of life.
The shop has had a facelift and in 2016 Cooking Kneads received a certificate of merit from the Shrewsbury Civic Society. Gill, a farmer’s daughter has always had a keen interest in cooking and started her career in the sports and hospitality sector. With more emphasis on the catering the opportunity arose to own her own restaurant – The Lutine Bell in Newport, Shropshire. Family life began to take over but later in life Gill was keen to return to the food industry and began helping her sister Sue with outside catering events. She also worked in a local Farm shop and learnt the art of Jam and Chutney making. The chance to own Cooking Kneads came about just at the right time!!
Retaining the experienced and loyal staff was key to being able to take on the business. Jane and Tracey are the main staff and both are keen cooks. They both worked for the previous 3 owners and prior to that Jane was employed in a commercial kitchen environment. They have, between them, over 35 years of valuable product knowledge. Rose, Kay and Jasmin complete the team and they all pride themselves on their exceptional customer service and friendly approach going that extra mile to fulfil your culinary requests!!
‘A must visit ‘ destination for chefs and keen cooks alike, Cooking Kneads often provides advice and sales to local businesses. The Lion and Pheasant, Henry Tudors, Loopy Shrew, to name just a few, are regular customers and Chris Burt from the Peach Tree uses locally produced Netherton Foundry pans and IOShen knives – helping to promote our shop.
Cooking Kneads boasts a truly enviable kitchen knife section of Global, IOShen, Victorinox, Wüsthof, Robert Welch and Kitchen Devils, as well as a fantastic stock range of cookware, bakeware, kitchen tools, gadgets and textiles. In addition we are now the only stockist of EMMA BRIDGEWATER in Shrewsbury.
With a huge database of suppliers that special item can hopefully be sourced at Cooking Kneads. Unlike many cookshops we are always prepared to try and find that specific item you require and with a huge database of suppliers this is normally achievable.
Fabulous independent cook shop where the staff are so helpful. Would recommend it to anyone. Their stock is varied and they are very knowledgeable. If you’re local or visiting the area definitely worth popping in.
