He started working as a driver/ bearer and mortuary assistant for a very busy Co-operative, learning all aspects of funeral services from the very start. He eventually realised he could develop special relationships with bereaved families and began training to become a funeral director. During this time he gained his Diploma in funeral directing. The busy large Co-operative gave an excellent grounding in funeral services. However Jamie felt his skills would be more suited to a smaller independent company and after eight years moved on to become manager at G & M Lunt, one of Sheffield’s oldest and most respected family run funeral directors.

His 11 years at G & M Lunt saw him become a more rounded funeral director and develop other management skills. Also, working for an independent company meant he had a lot more time to develop those special relationships with clients who passed on his name to friends and family. Many of Jamie’s clients have become friends. He has an extensive knowledge of running a high quality funeral home which involves arranging and conducting over a 1000 funerals including the paperwork. He has also spent time helping to run a local repatriation company.
