Founded 24 years ago, Castle Street Dance Studios is one of the area’s leading dance schools. We start with teaching our very young pupils their first ballet steps and go right through to our senior students taking their professional dance examinations.
We are delighted with the number of our pupils go on to perform or teach professionally. It is an all inclusive school catering for children with an ambition to dance and teach professionally to those just dancing once a week for enjoyment.
Castle Street Dance Studios was founded in 1993 by Mrs Charlotte Chan. In 2015 the school was bought by Miss Jessica Clayton a former pupil and graduate of Castle Street Dance Studios. Miss Jessica taught at the school for 5 years as the Head Teacher and in 2015 took over as Principal.
Miss Jessica trained at the Centre Performing Arts College in Kent studying Dance and Teacher Training. In her career she has performed with the Royal New Zealand Ballet company in their production of ‘Giselle’. Miss Jessica is a member of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance and teaches Ballet, Tap and Modern classes in High Wycombe, Penn & Widmer End. She is a licensed Zumba® and TAPfit Instructor and was among the first 9 teachers in the world to train to teach TAPfit! Miss Jessica is also a certified Acrobatic Arts teacher (AAC1) and passed her teaching exam with 94%. Her leadership ensures the highest quality, professional teaching and that all pupils are given the opportunity to fulfil their dance potential.
We aim to provide a safe, secure and nurturing environment for students to learn and study dance. It is our duty of care to offer lessons that are inclusive for all ages and abilities, focusing on safe dance practice whilst also passing down our love of dance to generations to come. Our aim is to nurture confident, self-disciplined and self-motivated students who strive for excellence; these skilled learned in dance can be used throughout their lives and in environments outside of the studio as well. We abide by the RAD & ISTD’s Codes of Conduct and Professional Practise and comply with all laws and legislation within the United Kingdom.
Miss Jessica was a student at Castle Street Dance Studios for 14 years, when she graduated in 2010 she went on to further her career in dance and trained at the Centre Performing Arts College in Kent with the prestigious Karen King, Cathy Stevens and Ruth Davies, all choreographing and contributing to the growth of the ISTD Syllabus. Whilst there, Jessica studied Dance and Teacher Training gaining her qualifications with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. Continuing with her teacher training Miss Jessica also studied with the Royal Academy of Dance in London, she passed the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies and earned Recognised Teacher Status (RAD RTS). In Miss Jessica’s career she has performed with the Royal New Zealand Ballet company in their production of ‘Giselle’ playing the role of the Mother. She is a member of the ISTD & RAD and teaches our Ballet, Tap and Modern classes in High Wycombe, Penn & Widmer End. Miss Jessica is a licensed Zumba® and TAPfit Instructor, she was among the first 9 teachers in the world to train to teach TAPfit! She is also a certified Acrobatic Arts teacher (AAC1) and passed her teaching exam with 94%. Miss Jessica is DBS Checked, first aid trained and holds a chaperone licence.
Miss Paula has been a part of Castle Street Dance Studios for more than 25 years! After training at CSDS studying Ballet, Tap and Modern, she went on to further her career in dance by becoming an Adult Fitness Instructor. Miss Paula has taught Ballet, Tap & Modern for over 10 years and is a licensed Zumba® and TAPfit Instructor; she was among the first 9 teachers in the world to train to teach TAPfit! Miss Paula teaches our Adult Fitness classes in High Wycombe and is also the Schools Manager. Miss Paula is DBS checked, first aid trained and holds a chaperone licence.
Miss Laura trained at the Northern Ballet School in Manchester where she graduated with a National Diploma in Professional Dance. Laura has her Advanced 1 RAD and ISTD Ballet exams as well as her Advanced 2 Flamenco. She was a Mid and Senior Associate with the Royal Ballet School and has performance experience to include the Kirov Ballet Company and English Youth Ballet. Laura went on to study The Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies course in London at The Royal Academy of Dance and qualified as an RAD Ballet Teacher. Miss Laura teaches our Ballet, Tap & Modern classes in Penn & Tyler’s Green. Miss Laura is DBS checked.
Miss Emma Jayne started her dance education with Myra Tiffin, who contributed to making up much of the ISTD syllabus, and Graduated at 18. Emma Jayne then went on to train professionally at The Centre of Performing Arts in London with the prestigious Karen King, Cathy Stevens and Jill Knight, all choreographing and contributing to the growth of the ISTD Syllabus. Miss Emma earned her diploma in Musical Theatre alongside gaining her teaching qualifications with the ISTD. Miss Emma went on to perform for 4 years with Princess cruises travelling the globe and stepped up as assistant manager in her last year. Miss Emma is a member of Imperial Society of Teachers of dance and will be teaching our Ballet, Tap & Modern classes on a Tuesday in High Wycombe. She is DBS Checked, first aid trained and holds a chaperone licence.
Yes, we have a school show once every two years. This is a major production staged in a full size theatre – the last few shows have been staged at the Wycombe Swan, the local area’s best theatre, with over 1,000 seats – which we have come close to filling!
