Yoredale Vets was formed in May 2014 when Linscott Vets merged with Hollin Rigg Vets (J & J.L. Watkinson). Both long-established and popular practices since the 1960’s and 1940’s respectively, Yoredale Vets offers a wealth of knowledge and experience with significant expertise in livestock production.
The practice has grown from strength to strength since formation whilst maintaining an unsurpassed level of personal service and client contact. Based in Masham, Bedale and Leyburn, Yoredale Vets play an important role within the local farming community and is able to offer the very best in modern facilities and techniques, safeguarding the welfare of herds and flocks and therefore the profit margin of our clients.
Our centrally held database ensures that all of your pet’s details are fully accessible whichever of our four branches you visit; we are also able to offer transport to patients between branches when cases require. Our excellent facilities include sterile operating theatre, digital x-rays, ultrasound scanners, dedicated dental area, hospitalisation ward with separate isolation area, and in-house laboratory services.
In 1996 John gained the RCVS Certificate in Cattle Health and Production and since the inception of the Yoredale Vets merged practice, continues to be most involved with the livestock part of the practice.
Growing up in Masham where his father set up practice in 1970, Jonathan accompanied his father on farm visits and helped him in the surgeries for most of his childhoood. Jonathan’s fascination/obsession with animals extended to the family’s own animals including dogs, cats, ponies, sheep and his own flock of racing pigeons.
In Lily’s spare time, she enjoys baking, and often helps her father on the farm.
Louise graduated from Newcastle Business School in 2010 with a degree in Business with Marketing, and joined Yoredale Vets in winter 2015. She has previously worked in small animal practice for 2 years.
In her free time, Anne enjoys swimming, playing tennis, cycling, and watercolour painting. She has a Jack Russell named Belle, two guinea pigs, and two gerbils – and two lovely sons, who keep her very busy!
Debs has worked for Yoredale Vets for 3 years, and her favourite thing about being a receptionist at is meeting new people and their animals, the variety of the job, how no two days are the same.
At home she has a 2 and a half year old German Shepherd called Mini. In her free time, Debs enjoys spending time with her family and friends, listening to music, going to see live music whenever she can. Debs helps out at a local dog training school and volunteering for a local dog rescue, Saving Yorkshire’s Dogs based near Masham.
Joanne has worked at the practice for almost ten years, starting at Watkinson & Sons and continuing with Yoredale Vets after the merger. Jo enjoys all aspects of her work, and how every day is different!
After retiring from the Metropolitan Police in 2010 Graham moved to the Leyburn area. His passion for animals and wildlife attracted him to come and work for Yoredale Vets.

Our 24-hour emergency service means we are committed to caring for your animals at any time of the day or night. If your horse is injured or becomes ill, please do not hesitate to phone us immediately on ANY of the usual numbers – you will then be passed on to one of our veterinary surgeons for advice and any potential treatment.
