Isla founded Lake Street Consulting Ltd in 2014, and has 15 years’ commercial experience in the energy markets. For 12 of those, she has been providing operational weather forecasts, drawing on her academic work which looked into the sources of error in numerical weather forecasts which limit their accuracy.
Time on the trading floor means she is used to working to tight deadlines, making independent decisions and leading the pack in terms of forecast calls. Large monetary value associated with these decisions has honed her ability to communicate clearly and assess accuracy. Time working as a consultant has contributed to her ability to listen to clients and work towards their end goal.
Bethany joined Lake Street Consulting Ltd in 2015. She holds a BSc from the University of Gloucestershire and a MSc in Applied Meteorology and Climatology from the University of Birmingham.
Lake Street Consulting specialise in weather, and energy markets
Helping you work with the weather
We translate weather data into information pertinent to your business decisions, enabling you to enhance profits, cut costs and/or hedge your company’s weather risk.
Many businesses – from construction to ice cream – have weather dependent decisions to make. While we can’t change the weather, we can help you work with the weather. We combine our meteorological knowledge, awareness of forecast limitations, and end user experience to bridge the gap between forecasts and decision making.
Lake Street Consulting's aim is to make weather forecasts and energy market information more accessible to businesses.
Whilst you can get generic weather forecasts easily, one needs a relatively high 'threshold knowledge' about computer modelling of the weather to get the best forecast for a given business: Lake Street Consulting has that knowledge.
Many energy market consultants know the theory but haven't had exposure to markets: Lake Street Consulting has market experience and is willing to share insights.
