THE COMPANY
Salvare was formed in the UK in 2014, however we have had 6 years of prior R&D history through the acquisition of intellectual property rights developed by sister companies and becoming members of the BMF. We have developed a range of products which are designed to save lives including inflatable life rafts, platforms, an emergency underwater breathing device and we are constantly developing new solutions. We are strongly placed to bring patented innovative life-saving inflatable platforms and other technologies to market that offer customers significant improvements over existing offerings by providing industry leading solutions to a range of sectors including the offshore & onshore maritime industry, boats, ships, aerospace, emergency services and the military as Special Forces survival products.
We believe that with our emergency life raft platforms we have found a solution to an ageing problem. For centuries, the main lifesaving device at sea has been a boat, originally used as a general-purpose craft for the ships use, but then gradually becoming reserved for lifesaving purposes. As ships became larger, carrying more crew and passengers, these boats became larger, with specifically designed launching devices. This of course meant that more space was required, along with further maintenance and training for their launching and use. In recent years we have seen the enclosed boat concept, which, while serving the purpose of protection of the occupants it severely limits the boats use to, abandonment and survivability of the occupants. Such boats are still essential on many types of ships, especially those carrying passengers. As well as becoming compulsory as supplement lifesaving devices, permission was given in many cases for our inflatable life raft platforms to replace the traditional lifeboat resulting in cruise ships now only being required to have sufficient lifeboats for 75% of those on board and many ships not required to have any lifeboat.
Having a place of safety and allowing time for survivors to recover before being rescued at sea is behind the newly designed SEAPOD™ inflatable survival platform. The device combines the latest technology, with proven research to solve the age old problem of surviving critical hours before rescue arrives, therefore preventing problems such as hypothermia, visibility of survivors and staying safely out of the water. The SEAPOD™ could also be used as a boarding aid as it is a stable enough emergency platform to help the survivor board which ever vessel is rescuing them which can be a struggle with a traditional emergency life raft.
Second Breath is a miniature, self-contained air dispenser that is worn around the wrist and serves as an emergency underwater breathing device. But underneath this marvel of simplicity and convenience lies a sophisticated and ingenious engineering design. Air is actuated through a rubber mouthpiece on the device. It is neither tank-based nor is air actuated through a tube as with all other emergency oxygen supply devices currently available. Its small size and unique design will not interfere with the wearers' activities. Second Breath is totally unique, there is no similar competitive product on the market.
Second Breath is refillable via hand pump or scuba tank and it can also be built into apparel such as a wetsuit. Made of light weight aluminium, the current model provides approximately 6-8 breaths of air on land or 3-5 breaths in water making it perfect for extreme sports, surfing, kayaking, skiing, extreme sports, yachting, rowing and more. It is refillable with either a hand-pump or air tank with the rate of participation in water sports increasing exponentially worldwide. Second Breath could well be as important as the “seatbelt” of water sports and save your life in an emergency through being a vital underwater breathing device.
