Dear Lynn I wanted to write and thank you again for the children’s life story books. I have been struggling to find the words to express my gratitude as thank you seems inadequate for all the time and effort that has gone into the life story books. The books are beyond my wildest expectations. I must admit I am still overwhelmed with the amount of information you have managed to obtain. That information will be invaluable in helping the children find a sense of identity in the future. As we have not been able to do any life story work with the children to date I must admit I aired on the side of caution about what information I included when I first gave them the books. After a lot of deliberation (and tears on my part) I gave them approximately a third of their book. The children adored the books and have been showing everyone pictures of themselves as babies. Unfortunately they do expect everyone to sit through all the pages twice over (as they want to show their books individually). They are a bit like the boring couple who always insist you look at all of their 200 holiday pictures whilst they describe each one in detail! …….. even wanted to take his baby picture into “show and tell” at school. One of our concerns is when the children have reminders of the past there are often some negative repercussions but to date things have stayed on an even keel (touch wood). ……….. recognised his birth parents straight away and actually seemed quite touched to see them and spent quite a long time on those pages.
