Established in January 2013, Maxime Solutions is a relatively new name in the IBM world and we’re growing fast because we’re different.
We pride ourselves on our reputation for straight-talking, honesty and superb value – something that has already seen us recognised as an official IBM Advanced Business Partner. This stamp of approval means we’re a company you can trust with all of your infrastructure needs.
Maxime Solutions specialises in IBM Storage Solutions and Power Systems and can provide a comprehensive range of finance, rental and maintenance options for customers of all sizes.
A short and unsuccessful stint in banking in London was followed by an equally short and unsuccessful spell in Air Freight based at Heathrow. In 1999 I was handed a career lifeline with an IBM hardware brokerage company and found myself good at something for the first time.
My ability to memorise part numbers of every machine made me a natural IT broker with many third-party maintenance companies relying on my knowledge to get them the right part time and again. Later that same year, I started my own company, MKT Computers, which to this day has an enviable reputation as a leading provider of refurbished IBM parts, mostly supplied to maintenance and support markets.
I worked my way up into management, managing over 30 engineers. During this time, I also completed an Open University degree in design technology and computing, which largely focused on Java programming. I thought it was time for something new… and then Martyn gave me with the opportunity to set up the engineering and warehousing side of his business.
I provide technical support to the sales team and where possible provide them with in-house training on new IBM systems.
Me and my brothers are always looking for the next adventure, whether that’s cycling across the country or walking the national Three Peaks Challenge. Having a very active border collie helps, as she demands a lot of exercise!
I know how to configure, build and work on these machines and 17 years experience in this industry shows my passion and confidence to help the team here meet our customer requirements.
My first taste of the IT industry was as a computer operator for a facilities management company back in 1989. A year of travelling around Australia followed, but when I returned I didn’t have much of an idea what to do.
Eventually I found myself working in logistics an IBM brokerage company. It quickly became evident that I had an aptitude for understanding how the equipment went together and memorising all the features codes and their descriptions, making me the perfect international IBM broker!
I now work in IBM sales along with Martyn and Howard, working to grow the Maxime business.
I haven’t been in this industry for as long as some of the other guys here but I’m making sure that I pick up as much knowledge as possible with the support of the team so customers always have the information they need.
