About James Wells Planning
Following time spent in Local Government and private practice I understand what people need from a planning consultant. Having worked from 1999 in both sectors I have a clear insight into how the profession operates and what people need to make a project successful. I also want to give people a personal service of high quality, taking them through the difficult parts of the process. In my own business, I provide what I consider the important things and this mainly stems from a clear, friendly and collaborative approach.
As a Chartered Planner, this means I abide by a professional code of conduct set out by the Royal Town Planning Institute. This requires that I undertake continuing professional development, carry professional indemnity insurance and uphold the values of my profession. My experience has been gained from working for South Hams District Council, Plymouth City Council, Bath and North East Somerset Council, Cornwall Council and Kerrier District Council. Private sector work has been gained working with a local practice covering mainly Devon and Cornwall. My varied work has involved appraising sites for development potential, making planning applications, carrying out appeal work and enforcement.
